After weeks of audition, days of screening, and hundreds of entries, the male finalists for the first-ever “Your Song of Excellence” singing contest are finally in.
With the help of the country’s finest OPM gems Bituin Escalante, Jay Durias, Frenchie Dy, and Paulo Zarate, the most promising, amateur male singers from various parts of the country have been chosen.
What kind of singer are these judges looking for?
“‘Yung great singer, ‘yan ‘yung storyteller kasi kada song merong story,” said Dy.
Meanwhile, Escalante expects a singer who “respects their song and their instrument.”
“I want these people to surprise me,” she added.
The five finalists from Luzon are Eric Dacanay from Taguig City, Khalil Tambi from Manila City, Mark Anthony Santos from Binangonan, Rizal, Renz Robosa from San Carlos City, Pangasinan and, Rommel John Eliseo from San Pedro City, Laguna.
Joining the finalists from the beautiful islands of Visayas are Bryan Dolendo from Negros Occidental, Michael Jandayan Bernaldez from Bohol, as well as, Jerald Arnaiz, Jeltrud Eran, and Sidgen Bagacay who are all from Cebu.
Completing the roster of the male finalists are the world-class talents from Mindanao: Lloyd Sarausos from Surigao del Sur and Christian Jelt Faunillán, Rahib Ali Sanchez, Romel Largo, and Wilfredo Ayon Jr., who are all from Davao City.
The public may then vote for their favorite male regional finalist to advance to the regional finals. Voting for the male regional finalists is until September 17 at the Taiwan Excellence Facebook Page (https://m.facebook.com/TaiwanExcellence.ph). They may support their chosen singer by commenting the hashtag of the finalist together with the contest’s official hashtags: #YourSongOfExcellence, #TaiwanExcellencePH, and #ExcellenceEveryday.
The 3 most excellent regional male performers out of the 15 will receive P10,000 each and will go head-to-head come October 30 Your Song of Excellence finals night. Apart from the prizes and the prestige, the regional finalists would also get the chance to be mentored by “Your Song of Excellence” host singer Floyd Tena and The Clash Season 1 contestant Jasmine Fitzgerald.
“Your Song of Excellence” is organized by Taiwan Excellence together with its premiere partners Aromase and Ju Tian Cleantech and major partners ACER, Annie’s Way, ASUS, FECA, Johnson Fitness & Wellness, PC Express, Predator, Republic of Gamers, Tatung and Transcend.
