AFTER going winless in their debut, Wilcon Depot 3×3 coach Anton Altamirano maintained they have unfinished business in the next conference of the PBA 3×3 Season 3.
“Considering that we only had two weeks to prepare for everything, we’re still happy with how we fought,” Altamirano said.
“We’re just getting started. We’re seeing now how cohesive we can be, and the players are getting their rhythm back,” he added.
Wilcon Depot 3×3 proved its real worth in the first six Legs and advanced to the grand finals last Sunday at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig as the No. 6 seed.
Altamirano’s quartet downed Terrafirma 3×3 21-13 before falling to Pioneer 16-20 in Pool B but still made the quarterfinals.
Propped up by the efforts of Keith Datu and Louie Vigil, Wilcon Depot 3×3 stayed in step with two-time Leg champion Ginebra until the final minute before exiting with a 14-18 loss.
Altamirano said there’s still a lot to be proud of considering the roller coaster journey they had this conference, highlighted by a pair of semifinals stints and a third-place finish in Leg 6.
“There’s no question that the future is still bright for this group, and we can’t wait to prepare for the next conference,” he said. “We’ll have more than enough time to prepare.”
