Valdez leads 16 others in volley pool

CREAMLINE star Alyssa Valdez banners the 17-member Philippine national women’s volleyball team training pool for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia in May.

Most of the spikers named to the pool list by the Philippine National Volleyball Federation yesterday are suiting up in the PVL with the addition of two collegiate players from University of the East.

Aside from Valdez, Jia De Guzman, Jema Galanza, Diana Mae Carlos, Ced Domingo, and Kyla Atienza of the Cool Smashers were tapped.

Kat Tolentino and Cherry Nunag ofChoco Mucho, Chery Tiggo’s Mylene Paat, Gel Cayuna of Cignal, Jules Samonte, Dell Palomata and Mika Reyes and Kath Arado of PLDT, and Petro Gazz’s MJ Phillips are also tapped to join the pool.

Also included in the pool, which will be coached by Brazilian tactician Jorge Souza de Brito, as prospects are Lia Pelaga and Riza Nogales of the Lady Red Warriors.

Nineteen players, including ace spikers Bryan Bagunas, Marck Espejo, and Joshua Umandal, have been invited to the Philippine national men’s volleyball team pool.
