BUOYED by its title triumph in Leg 2, the upstart 3×3 league’s guest team has zoomed to the top.
MCFASolver gained the No. 1 spot in the team standings of the PBA 3×3 Season 3 Third Conference.
The Tech Centrale, who ruled just one leg after settling for bridesmaid finishes in the conference kickoff, jacked up their tally to 180 tour points as they dislodged Leg 1 winner Meralco (150) from No. 1.
After amassing the maximum 100 points in Leg 1, the Bolts finished only fifth in their failed bid for back-to-back leg crowns for 50 markers, allowing the Lubao-based quarter to surge ahead.
Cavitex stayed at No. 3 with 140 points after its second podium finish in a row even as Blackwater (110) bumped Purefoods (105) off No. 4.
The Smooth Razor’s climb from fifth was spurred by their fourth place standing last Tuesday, while the Titans’ fall was hastened by their sixth place finish in the second leg.
On the strength of its silver medal in Leg 2, San Miguel Beer burst out of the cellar and vaulted five places to No. 6 with 96 points.
Grand slam-seeking TNT, which has yet to find its rhythm in the season-ending conference, remained at seventh with 80 after a pair of seventh place finishes so far.
Ginebra (61) fell two spots to eighth as Terrafirma (55) maintained its hold of ninth ahead of plungers Pioneer Elastoseal (53) and NorthPort (38).
The 11 teams are in a tough battle for slots in the Third Conference Grand Finals, which will feature only the top 10 squads based on the rankings after six legs.
The top 4 will clinch an additional bonus in the form of outright entry to the quarterfinals of the conference’s Big Dance.
Meanwhile, the Bolts’ Joseph Sedurifa outgunned everyone to lead the top individual performers after the second leg.
Sedurifa averaged 9.0 points in three games to finish No. 1 in scoring despite Meralco’s failure to get past the quarterfinals and missed attempt at a diadem anew.
He was ahead of Shaq Alanes of Terrafirma (8.5), Martin Gozum of Purefoods (7.75), Brandon Ramirez of MCFASolver (7.33) and Wendell Comboy of Blackwater (7.33).
Comboy’s teammate RJ Deles, Pao Javelona of Leg 2 runner-up SMB, Chester Saldua of TNT, and JR Alabanza of NorthPort shone bright in the other statistical categories.
