PVL: Four teams seeking fast start

BY ABBY TORALBA

FOUR teams raring to get off to a fine start debut today in the PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The fiery duels in the competition commence after the tourney opened last Saturday,
PLDT takes on F2 Logistics at 4 p.m., with the High Speed Hitters expected to do better this conference with a new coach in Rald Ricafort and new additions in Michelle Morente and Ysa Jimenez.

Mainstays Mika Reyes, Jules Samonte, Rhea Dimaculangan, Fiola Ceballos, Dell Palomata, and the rest of the squad are looking to surpass PLDT’s fifth place finish in the competition previously dubbed the Open Conference.

The Cargo Movers will parade their new tactician in Regine Diego, the first woman strategist in the league.

Like the majority of the teams, F2 boosted its line-up ahead of the conference by acquiring veteran open hitter Myla Pablo, debuting Chinnie Arroyo and welcoming back Cha Cruz-Behag.

The Cargo Movers, together with their key players Aby Marano, Ivy Perez, Kim Fajardo, Kianna Dy and Dawn Macandili, look to redeem themselves from their sixth place in the conference last season.

Chery Tiggo Crossovers and the Cignal HD Spikers meet at 6:30 p.m.

“I can say the girls are going to be 100 percent healthy but the peak form, nobody can say that. We’re trying our best to manage whatever it is we can manage for this conference and to prevent those injuries to recur again,” said Diego.
