Pinoy keglers remain winless

FILIPINO keglers continued to wallow in the gutter after the trios events last Saturday of the 26th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships at the SCAA Bowling Center in Hong Kong.

Patrick Nuqui (1345), Ian Dychangco (1389) and Jordan Dinham (1405) combined for 4139 pinfalls to finish ninth in the men’s event, 542 pinfalls behind the gold medal-winning Malaysian troika of Muhammad Rafiq Ismail (1612), Timmy Tan (1512) and Ahmad Muaz (1553), who tallied 4677.

The other Pinoy trio of Emer Gotencio (1353), Danielle Evangelista (1228) and Ivan Malig (1385) had a total output of 3966 and were even deeper in the standings at No. 22.

Their female counterparts mirrored their sub-par performances, with Krizziah Macatula-Tabora (1270), Rachelle Leon (1209) and Lara Posadas-Wong (1302) coming in 10th spot with a tally of 3781, 682 pins behind the champion Singaporean squad of Shayna Ng (1454), New Hui Fen (1420) and Cherie Tan (1589), who pooled 4463.

The other local trio of Grace Gella (1290), Danielle Lazo (1116) and Mades Arles (1193) wound up in 13th place (3599).

The competition resumed with the team event in both men’s and women’s divisions that was set to start yesterday and end today. — Bong Pedralvez
