THE tandem of Isabella Gamez and Alexsandr Korovin make their historic debut as the first Philippine pair to see action today in the ISU World Figure Skating Championships at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Gamez and Korovin, who placed sixth in the short program in the International Challenge Cup in Tilburg, Netherlands last February to qualify for the prestigious competition, spring into action in the two-stage event with the short program set at 11 a.m. (10 a.m. in Manila).
They complete their participation in the three-day championships, which drew top figure skaters from 34 countries worldwide, tomorrow during their free skate routine at the 22,500-seat arena.
