Perpetual belles eye solo lead

BY ABBY TORALBA

PERPETUAL Help eyes the early lead when it collides with Jose Rizal University today in the 98th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex.

The showdown pitting the Lady Altas and the Lady Bombers is set at 2 p.m. following the duel between Mapua University and Lyceum at noon.

Perpetual ripped Emilio Aguinaldo College 25-21, 26-24, 25-16 last Sunday to launch its bid on a high.

Mary Rhose Dapol, Shaila Omipon, Winnie Bedana, Janine Padua, Jhasmine Sapin and team captain Razel Aldea are expected to boost the Las Piñas-based belles’ bid.

JRU suffered a heartbreak on opening day last Saturday, being swept by last season’s runner-up, Arellano University 18-25, 20-25, 23-25.

Skipper Sydney Niegos, Riza Rose, Karyla Jasareno, Jerry Lyn Laurente, Mailey Amante and Jonazel Egera will be counted upon by the Lady Bombers to deliver.

The Lady Cardinals and the Lady Pirates are raring to start on a rousing note.

Mapua fell short last season after it settled for fifth place in the eliminations, while Lyceum wound up sixth.

During the offseason, both the Lady Cards and the Lady pirates joined the Shakey’s Super League.
