OUT to reach new heights, ace hitters Myla Pablo and Dindin Santiango-Manabat have transferred to new teams ahead of the new PVL season.
After saying goodbye to six spikers, F2 Logistics announced the arrival of Pablo last Friday, while Akari revealed it had signed Santiago-Manabat.
“A powerhouse multi-awarded athlete… An experienced champion… A storm has arrived…
Let’s all welcome Myla Pablo in our team called family!” the Cargo Movers said on their social media pages.
Pablo played for Petro Gazz for two seasons and was a key factor in the Angels’ back-to-back titles in the Reinforced Conference last year.
Pablo, 29, shared her excitement in being with her new squad and aims to help F2 in the Open Conference set to kick off on Feb. 4.
“After hearing from their management, naramdaman ko iyong value na puwede at sana maibigay ko sa kanila. Very excited ako dahil apart from the coaches, ang daming beterano sa team na ito na college pa lang nakakalaban ko na,” Pablo said.
“Sigurado marami akong mapipick-up sa kanila na makakatulong sa akin pati na rin sa buong team,” she added.
She will be mentored by Regine Diego, the first woman coach in the PVL.
In the previous season, the Cargo Movers finished sixth in the Open Conference and fifth in the Reinforced Conference.
The Chargers bolstered their line-up by adding another veteran player in wing spiker Santiago-Manabat.
“Welcome to new era. Leadership. Intensity. And top-notch skills. All of these we can expect from the newest member of the Akari fam! Let’s welcome Dindin Santiago-Manabat into the fold! Let’s Go!” Akari said.
Santiago-Manabat, a champion player, played as an import in the Japan V. League in 2018 and 2019 then played as a reinforcement in the Volleyball Thailand League in 2021. She left the Chery Tiggo Crossovers’ nest after six years to join the Chargers.
Last week, Akari signed seasoned libero Bang Pineda and opposite hitter Eli Soyud
The Chargers settled for eighth in the Reinforced Conference last year in their debut in the pro league.
