LYCEUM chess player Paul Matthew Llanillo turned back Johann Cedrick Gaddi of San Beda University last Tuesday in their quarterfinals battle in junior’s play of the 96th NCAA season online chess tournament.
The win sent Llanillo to the semis against Letran’s Christian Mark Daluz, who beat Jasper Faeldonia of Arellano University last Monday.
The country’s oldest collegiate league plodded on with its new season with online events, with the basketball and volleyball tournaments getting cancelled. — Michael Jugado
