DEFENDING champion College of St. Benilde clobbered Perpetual Help 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 yesterday to stretch its winning run to four in the 98th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the San Andres Sports Complex.
Opposite hitter Gayle Pascual pumped 20 points for the Lady Blazers, while Jessa Dorog and Jade Gentapa added nine and eight points, respectively.
“Great win for us. Iyong composure namin nandoon, iyong instructions na-execute, so happy for the win,” CSB coach Jerry Yee said.
“Hindi sa hindi tayo satisfied pero you always look for improvement. Kung iyong coach is naging complacent, na-kuntento lang sa ganun lang, lagot siya,” he added.
Mary Rhose Dapol’s 22-point performance went for naught for the Lady Altas, who slipped to 3-1.
Earlier, Letran rallied past Emilio Aguinaldo College 19-25, 25-22, 25-12, 25-12.
Judiel Nitro led the scoring for the Lady Knights with 16 points, while Lea Tapang tallied 11 markers, 15 digs and 13 excellent receptions.
LJ Isar also scored 11 points as Angelique Ledesma and Chamberlain Cunada added nine markers each for Letran, which had 13 service aces.
