PHILIPPINE fencing team coach Rolando “Amat” Canlas and rising star Sam Catantan talk about the preparations being done by the Philippine Fencing Association for the coming 31st Southeast Asian Games in today’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum online edition.
Canlas just arrived from Tashkent, Uzbekistan with members of the national squad where they came close to clinching a berth in the Tokyo Olympics following the bronze medal finish of Catantan in the women’s foil event of the Asia-Oceania Qualification Tournament.
With the qualifiers finally over, the Filipino fencers now focus their attention to the SEA Games set Nov. 21-Dec. 2. They won two gold medals the last time it was held in the country two years ago.
