HAVING been a National Sports Association official before, PSC Commissioner Olivia “Bong” Coo is out to familiarize herself thoroughly with the NSAs that will be assigned to her.
“What I intend to do is familiarize myself with both the NSA, the sport and its officials because all of these are new to me. I cannot be able to defend them or help them without knowing what their sport is all about,” said Coo, the former Philippine Bowling Federation president and secretary general.
The former four-time world champion and multi-titled kegler is still awaiting the appointment of the new PSC chairman and the NSAs she will oversee, especially when it comes to providing them with the support and budget they need.
“So far, I don’t know how the NSAs that will be given to me will be selected. Whether it will be done by raffle or by assignment will have to be the decision of the PSC chairman,” Coo said, adding there are now 75 NSAs getting support from the government sports agency.
She intends to build strong relationships with the NSAs and officials that will fall under her supervision “so they can better understand how the agency is there to help them and how they can fulfill the requirements for the support, especially the budgets they need in developing their sport.”
