Chery stakes winning run

BY ABBY TORALBA

UNSCATHED in four starts, Chery Tiggo clashes with United Auctioneers Inc.-Army today in the PVL Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Crossovers and the Lady Troopers tangle at 5:30 p.m. after the showdown pitting Akari and Creamline in the curtain-raiser at 2:30.

Chery Tiggo waylaid Choco Mucho 29-17, 18-25, 25-16, 25-20 to move closer to gaining a semifinals berth in the import-laden conference and rose to a 4-0 card.

“Siyempre, sinasabi nga namin hindi kami puwedeng magpabaya. Hindi puwedeng confident (kami) sa naging status namin so dapat mas lalo kaming pumupukpok kasi nga, siguro iyong other things,” Crossovers coach Clarence Esteban said. “They’re trying to beat us kasi kami iyong nasa taas so kami iyong parang gusto nilang pukpukin ngayon.

“Pero siyempre, mag-stay pa rin kami kung ano iyong ginagawa namin. Mas dodoblehin pa dapat namin kung ano man iyong mga ginagawa namin sa practices para medyo maging stable din iyong standing namin,” he added.

Skipper Mylene Paat, import Jelena Cvijovic, EJ Laure, Cza Carandang, Jasmine Nabor, Roselle Baliton, and Ria Duremdes will be counted upon by Chery Tiggo.

With a 0-3 mark, the Lady Troopers are aching to crash the winner’s circle and atone for a 17-25, 21-25, 16-25 loss to F2 Logistics nine days ago.

Army will lean on reinforcement Laura Condotta, team captain Jovelyn Gonzaga, Jeanette Villareal, Ivy Perez, Royse Tubino, Mary Jean Balse-Pabayo and Angela Nunag.

The Cool Smashers rolled to their third win in row after downing Cignal 25-18, 22-25, 25-22, 25-12 last Saturday.

Creamline will bank on foreign guest player Yeliz Basa, Jema Galanza, skipper Alyssa Valdez, Celine Domingo, Jeanette Panaga, Jia De Guzman and Kyla Atienza.

The Charges dropped a 13-25, 14-25, 20-25 setback to defending champion Petro Gazz five days ago and tumbled to 1-3.

Import Priscilla Rivera, Janine Marciano, Michelle Cobb, Krich Macaslang, Gen Casugod and Rachel Jorvina will lead Akari’s charge.
