Bianca hoping to bounce back in New Jersey

WALLOWING in mediocrity in the last eight tournaments on the US LPGA tour, Bianca Pagdanganan swings back into action today (Thursday in the US) in the Cognizant Founders Cup at the Upper Montclair Country Club in Clifton, New Jersey.

Since her 29th place performance in the Honda LPGA Thailand in the resort Thai City of Pattaya in February, Pagdanganan has yet to regain her season-ending sharp form in the 2023 US LPGA season that enabled her to regain her tour card.

The power-hitting Pinay golfer is hoping she can finally get her game going on the par-71, 6,656-yard course located just 20.1 kilometers of New York City. The tournament offers a top prize of $450,000 (roughly P25.9 million).

Despite her slump, Pagdanganan is still ranked No. 37 in the International Golf Federation Women’s Olympic qualifying rankings, with the top 60 at the cut-off date of June 24 eligible to compete in the Paris Summer Games,

Streaking American and Tokyo Olympic champion Nelly Korda, who skipped the previous tournament, is back in harness and will be gunning for her record-breaking sixth US ladies tour title after annexing the Chevron Golf Championship, the first major, two weeks ago.
