ZAMBOANGA Family’s Brand Sardines closed out its elimination round campaign with a rousing 82-67 victory over Imus on Tuesday in the OKbet-MPBL (Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League) 4th Season Presented by Xtreme at the Bren Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Already assured of finishing on top of the South division, Zamboanga still played hard till the end to notch its 18th win against three losses.
Jaycee Marcelino, MVP of the MPBL All-star, again led Zamboanga with 24 points, 8 rebounds, 7 steals and 4 assists, followed by Chris Dumapig with 14 points and 10 rebounds and Jhapz Bautista with 13 points and 3 assists.
Imus tumbled to 5-15, although it can still advance to the quarterfinals if it beats Muntinlupa on Thursday at the conclusion of the elimination round at the Caloocan Sports Complex.
Christian Garcia tallied 20 points and 6 rebounds and Mombert Arong and Antonio Jeffrey Coronel 13 points each for the Imus Bandera.
