Thompson new face of World Balance

GINEBRA guard Scottie Thompson has achieved a lot in his six years so far in the PBA but he’s not stopping there.

The Kings star is set to have his own shoe line with World Balance. The local sports brand confirmed the signing of the do-it-all Thompson.

“Thompson caught our attention largely thanks to his court tenacity, rebounding prowess, and versatile play on both ends of the court as well as his challenger mindset of grit and hard work which makes him a natural fit for World Balance,” CHG Global Inc. president Barny Chong said.

“We are thrilled to add him to our WB family, and we can’t wait to collaborate with him in bringing an exclusive collection to the market,” he added.

The 6-foot-1 Thompson, who has five titles with the Kings and a finals MVP award he bagged in the 2018 mid-season Commissioner’s Cup, became the first player since pro league legend Phillip Cezar to sign with the brand.

He will also be launching his very own signature basketball sneakers soon.

A former NCAA MVP with Perpetual Help, Thompson will showcase World Balance basketball and performance line for the PBA’s 46th season.

Thompson, 27, will now be the face of World Balance’s basketball and performance line, designed to perform with level-up tech innovation.

Drafted fifth overall by Ginebra 2015, Thompson averaged 11.4 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 6.3 assists in last year’s Philippine Cup bubble in Clark.

Led by the likes of Thompson, Stanley Pringle, Japeth Aguilar, and finals MVP LA Tenorio, the Kings finished the elimination round with an 8-3 card for the No. 1 seed.

Ginebra made short work of Rain or Shine in their quarterfinals duel and beat Meralco 3-2 in the semis, with Thompson sinking in a dramatic buzzer-beating three-pointer in Game 5.

The Kings captured the title, their 13th overall, via a 4-1 finals series win over TNT.
