Ramos hoping initial win would bolster team

LADY Luck finally smiled on prized Fil-Am guard Dwight Ramos and Toyama.

Ramos is hoping the Grouses’ breakthrough 82-67 victory over Osaka last Wednesday night would turn their campaign around in the Japan B. League.

“I think it was just a good win today. I think we played good defense and we’re starting to roll together as a team,” Ramos said. “We’re finding what we do good together.”

The 6-foot-5 Ramos scored 20 points on an 8-of-14 clip from the field, to go with six rebounds, three assists, and a steal for Toyama, which improved to 1-8.

A Gilas Pilipinas standout, Ramos wants the Grouses to keep their feet on the pedal.

“We finally got our first win, so we’re hoping that we can keep building on it, keep improving,” Ramos said. “We’re going to get back to practice and hopefully we can get on a winning streak instead of a losing streak.”

Toyama takes a 10-day break before the Grouses collide with the Kawasaki Brave Thunders on the road at Kawasaki City Todoroki Arena on Nov. 6 and 7.

Playing on the road for the first time this season excites Ramos.

“This will be the first road game for me,” he said.

“I’m excited to get over there, see a new city, and we’re gonna keep practicing and keep getting better.”
