THE East Asia Super League has formalized multi-year partnerships with the PBA, Japan B. League, Korean Basketball League, Chinese Taipei P. League, along with a team from Hong Kong for a new pan-regional tournament with a home-and-away format.
Bolstered by its 10-year agreement with FIBA, basketball’s global governing body, EASL will bring eight of Asia’s best teams in the region’s top leagues together every week to compete for the top prize of $1 million.
The eight teams will be split into two groups of four and will play a round-robin.
Each team plays a home-and-away game in their group, six games each, for a total of 24 games during the group stage set from October 2022 to February 2023, with two EASL group stage games taking place every Wednesday night.
The top two teams from each group advance to the Final Four and play in sudden death semifinals and championship matches in March 2023.
EASL has received buy-ins from some of basketball’s most established statesmen, securing investment, as well as brand ambassador and strategic advisory support from NBA stars Baron Davis, Metta World Peace and Shane Battier, as well as top sports industry business people.
EASL is taking the next step to elevate the sport of basketball in Asia and be Asia’s premier pan-regional league.
