New 3×3 team exudes confidence

MCFASOLVER Tech Centrale is hoping the first time will be a charm.

The new team is shooting for the stars in its initial foray in the coming PBA 3×3 Season 3 Second Conference next week.

Coach Anton Altamirano said the squad is out to prove it is no pushover in the fledgling 3×3 meet.

“Definitely, that’s the goal. We’re not doing this to place second,” Altamirano said yesterday during the team’s launch at the Dapo Restaurant and Bar in Quezon City. “We want to contend and win a championship.

MCFASolver Tech Centrale is set to field an intact roster composed of TH Tumalip, Ael Banal, Yutien Andrada, and Louie Vigil.

Altamirano’s wards will also get a big boost after adding Fil-Canadian big man Brandon Ramirez and veteran gunner Nico Salva.

Ramirez is raring to prove his worth with MCFASolver Tech Centrale.

“I’m very excited. It’s something that kinda came in together at a time where I was deciding what to do and where to go,” Ramirez said.

“Thank you to coach Eric (Altamirano) and coach Anton because they called me, and we spoke and eventually led me to joining the team. I’m really grateful to them.”

Co-team owner Ma. Cristina F. Antonio is also upbeat about the team’s chances even though they’re coming in as the new kids on the block in the 11-team field.

Her morale stems from MCFASolver Tech Centrale’s strong performance in the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3×3 World Tour Cebu Masters last month and if they can sustain that groove, there’s no doubt that a crown may soon be in the fold for the squad.

MCFASolver Tech Centrale reached the main draw and finished 10th among 14 teams in Cebu.

“Buong tapang po kaming susubok sa larangan ng palakasan sa PBA 3×3 at confident po kami na makaka-compete ang aming team,” she said.

The Lubao-based electronics and appliance company, which is celebrating its sixth anniversary, is committed to play for two PBA 3×3 conferences starting in Leg 1 of the Second Conference which kicks off next Monday at Ayala Malls Circuit in Makati.
