DETERMINED to keep the crown in Intramuros for Letran, Knights big man Louie Sangalang will do whatever it takes to achieve his goal in the 98th NCAA basketball tournament.
With last season’s finals MVP Jeo Ambohot now proving his worth in the PBA, the 6-foot-4 Sangalang is expected to play a bigger role in Letran’s three-peat bid.
“Sa akin, whatever it takes makuha lang iyon (championship). Iyon talaga iyong goal namin,” Sangalang, who is not related to Magnolia star Ian, told Malaya-Business Insight.
“Focus kami. One game at a time, focus kami pero iyon talaga iyong goal namin, whatever it takes kukunin namin (championship),” he added.
The Bataan native wants to prove that the Knights can keep the crown despite Ambohot and last season’s Rookie-MVP Rhenz Abando leaving the team.
“Gusto kong i-prove kasi masyado kaming maraming haters, bashers, gusto naming i-prove, gumawa ng statement na kaya naming manalo na kahit kami lang iyong natira, kaya namin,” Sangalang said.
“Iyong mga challenges, may mga rookies ulit tapos noong pre-season natatalo kami so iyon, need namin mag-jell, need namin mag-adjust sa game para sa NCAA hindi na kami mag-co-collapse, dire-diretso na kami,” he said.
