Hotshots out to bounce back strong

IF THERE’s one team that should be able to bounce back bigfrom a numbing loss, it should be Magnolia.

That is, if the Hotshotstake to heart the words drilled into their heads by coach Chito Victolero.

“I talked to the players and one of the things I told them is, dito sa bubble na sunod-sunod ang games, kung sino ‘yung mabilis mag-adjust saka maka-move forward siya ‘yung magiging mas successful,” Victolero said yesterday as the Hotshots got ready to get back on track after a numbing 94-95 loss to Meralco two days ago.

“So I told them na tapos na iyan,” added Victolero. “Importante lang na matuto kami at huwag na naming ulit-ulitin kung ano man iyong na-experience namin kahapon.”

Magnolia tackles floundering Blackwater as the PBA Philippine Cup resumes at the Don Honorio Ventura State University Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.

Coming off a breakthrough win through a man-sized upset of San Miguel Beer last Wednesday, Terrafirma tries to make it two in a row when it battles defending champion Ginebra in the second game of the day’s triple-bill.

The nightcap has sister teams TNT and Meralco colliding for the leadership.

A win by the Tropang Giga will jack their record to 5-0. If the Bolts prevail, they take over top spot via a 6-1 slate.

Despite coming up on the short end of a 96-76 game with TNT last Wednesday, Blackwater has shown its act is slowly coming together, razing an early 10-point deficit and even leading the Tropa by six at the half before wilting in the face of TNT’s vastly superior firepower and depth.

“Talagang bad loss, sorry loss,” Victolero admitted after a long night spent mainly talking to his staff and players.

“Maganda gameplan namin para sa larong iyon and kontrolado namin for 46, 47 minutes.

Kaya lang nag-breakdown, which I think mostly mental ang dahilan.”
