Gilas 3×3 members ready to rumble

TRUST the Gilas 3×3 squad: they can jive.

Speaking on Radyo5 92.3 News FM’s Power and Play program hosted by former PBA Commissioner Noli Eala, Fil-Am wingman Joshua Munzon insisted chemistry should not pose a problem for him and his teammates.

“I don’t think so (chemistry will be a problem). We got a chance to practice last year before the pandemic really started,” Munzon said. “We got a chance to build some chemistry.”

The 6-foot-4 Munzon, this year’s top pick overall in the PBA draft by Terrafirma, along with San Miguel Beer teammates CJ Perez and Mo Tautuaa, Meralco rookie Alvin Pasaol, and reserves Karl Dehesa and Leonard Santillan, will try to gain one of the three slots for the Tokyo Olympic Games in the FIBA 3×3 Olympic qualifying tournament set from May 26 to 30 in Graz, Austria.

Although facing big odds, Munzon said the team is willing to sacrifice for one another.

“We have a selfless group of guys that are willing to defer to other guys, whether some guys take shots or don’t take shots or whatever. We got a group of guys who’s willing to do what it takes to win,” Munzon said.

“So, I think more than anything, this is a good opportunity for us to get on the court together and perfect that chemistry and build upon that. It may take a little adjustment at first for some of us but at the same time, we all have one goal, and we all know what it is.”
