COACH Tab Baldwin of defending three-time champion Ateneo and Adamson counterpart Nash Racela seemingly have the same attitude inculcated on their charges.
Whose players will be able to translate that mindset into game will be known today when the Blue Eagles and the Soaring Falcons clash in the 84th UAAP basketball tournament behind closed doors at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.
The match is set at 10 a.m. before La Salle seeks a third straight win when it battles Far Eastern University at 1 o’clock.
University of the Philippines squares off with National University at 4 p.m.
Winless squads University of the East and University of Santo Tomas collide in the nightcap at 7 p.m.
“Those games are behind us, they’re irrelevant now. The only game that matters is Adamson,” Baldwin said after Ateneo trounced FEU 79-70 last Tuesday that hiked its record to 2-0.
“So, you know, we’re just worried about what’s in front of us, not what’s behind us,” he added.
Speaking after Adamson ripped UE 82-66 also last Tuesday, Racela said: “The message that we always set to our players is really to focus on the now. We preach that just to focus on the now and not in the past.
“Whatever is ahead of us ang pinakaimportante is now. It’s nice that we were able to get that first win.”
The Eagles also try to stretch their unbeaten streak of 28 games dating back to 2018, including a perfect 16-0 campaign in the last cage wars.
