Long-time entertainment editor, host and author Ricardo F. Lo passed away Tuesday, May 4. He was 75.
Ricky was born in Samar on April 21, 1946. He finished grade school in his hometown, Las Navas, Northern Samar and transferred to Tabaco Pei Ching School for high school. He later finished AB English at the University of the East.
Lo started his career as editorial assistant in the Variety magazine of “The Manila Times.”
He went on to work as a writer in the magazine of “Philippine Daily Express” and later as an editorial assistant in “Weekend.”
He became entertainment editor of “The Manila Times” and “The Manila Chronicle” before becoming the confidant of the stars at Philippine Star for thirty-five years, from 1986 to May 2021.
He also worked on television as host of showbiz-oriented shows including “Star Talk,” “The Buzz” and “The Ricky Lo Exclusives.” He also authored “Star Studded” and “Conversations with Ricky Lo.”
He is remembered for his fairness, generosity and kindness. Tributes poured on social media from fans, friends, and celebrities, who were often prominently featured in his “Funfare” column.
His remains will be brought to his native Samar to be inurned in the family mausoleum.
