ANDREA Torres is in Buenos Aires in Argentina for an international movie project titled “Passional.” She is the only Filipino in the cast and will be playing the role of Mahalia, a professional tango dancer who goes to Argentina to be a member of the judges in the International Tango Dance Festival being held there.
“I am so happy I was the one chosen for the role kasi ang ganda ng material,” she said.
“I’m so excited as this will be the first time in South America. Bale this is my second international movie as I’ve done a martial arts-drama film before in Cambodia, ‘Blood in Dispute,’ in 2016.”
In “Passional,” she is paired with a veteran Argentine actor, Marcelo Melingo, who plays a biologist named Norberto. Andrea has attended the press conference for the movie and was also featured in various interviews for Argentine television.
“I’m good, they treat me so well and I am really so happy to be here,” she added. “The Argentinians are just like us as a people, very warm. It didn’t take a lot for me to adjust because of the feel of the place. I really felt like I am at home.”
Her ex-boyfriend Derek Ramsay has distributed the invitations for his coming wedding to Ellen Adarna scheduled this month in a secret venue. When asked about this, Andrea chose not to answer at all. “Naku, feeling ko wala ako sa posisyon para magsalita ng anuman tungkol diyan kasi matagal ko nang naihiwalay ang sarili ko sa buhay niya.”
Andrea will soon be seen on GMA in primetime and in the afternoon. “Legal Wives” is currently being aired on primetime on GMA and enjoying very good ratings. Come November 15, her hit 2015 drama fantasy with Mikael Daez, “Ang Lihim ni Annasandra” will be shown again in the afternoon.

‘And I want that girl to be a Christian, ‘yung makakasundo talaga ng family ko. — Marco Gumabao’
Marco Gumabao clarified once and for all at the press con of his new movie, “My Husband, My Lover,” that he and Ivana Alawi are not in a relationship.

“We are just friends,” he said. “For about a year now. Pero hindi kami. My last girlfriend was four years ago. I’m now 27 years old and gusto ko, my next relationship would be ‘yung girl na pakakasalan ko na. No use to waste time and money lalo na ngayong pandemic. And I want that girl to be a Christian, ‘yung makakasundo talaga ng family ko.”
As Noel in “My Husband, My Lover,” he plays Kylie Versoza’s husband who splits from her when he finds out she’s pregnant and she’s not sure if the father is him or her lover, Adrian Alandy. He then finds new love in a smart lawyer, played by Cindy Miranda. He has hot love scenes with both Kylie and Cindy.
“Okay lang sa’kin makipag-love scene kasi wala namang magagalit since I’m not committed to anyone. Ang ganda ng script ni Ricky Lee, but kinabahan ako kasi very demanding ang ipapagawa sa characters, lalo ‘yung love scene na threesome kami nina Kylie and Adrian. But I just trusted Viva kasi I’m sure they won’t give us a project na hindi makakatulong sa career namin.”
How does it feel doing love scenes with Kylie who, everyone knows, is the squeeze of Jake Cuenca?
“Nagpaalam ako kay Jake kasi friends naman kami. We played brothers in ‘Los Bastardos.’
I asked for his blessing. And he said, bro, you have my blessing. I needed that go signal from Jake para maitodo namin ni Kylie ang mga eksena namin.”

Ariella Arida got good feedback for her performance in “Sarap Mong Patayin,” a weird kind of comedy. She now does serious drama in “More Than Blue,” a Pinoy adaptation of a hit Korean film.
“I play Cindy, a photographer,” she says. “Girlfriend ako ni Diego Loyzaga who plays John Louis, a rich dentist. We broke up and he met Yassi Pressman as Cream, then gusto kong makipagbalikan sa kanya.
“I’m excited to work with Yassi and JC Santos in this movie, kasi napapanood ko sila in their past works so alam ko magaling silang mga aktor. Kabado nga ako noong una lalo at si JC as K ang laging kong kaeksena kasi alam ko ang galing niya. But in fairness to him, he was very supportive.”
Can she relate with her role as Cindy?
“She is a professional photographer and a very confident person. Yes, I can see myself in her as, like me, she’s the type who just goes with the flow. But I have to prepare for my role. I have to learn how to handle a camera professionally. Inaral ko talaga to be believable as a photographer.”
It’s said she’s being considered to play the villain role of Valentina in “Darna.” “Oh my gosh.
Sana nga, totoo po. Ipagdasal natin. The role of Valentina is as iconic as Darna, so it’d be great to be considered for that role.”
