Losing respect

‘Robredo and Trillanes have brushed aside brickbats thrown their way, mostly by the DDS.’

DUE to his claims of massive corruption in government, former Sen. Antonio Trillanes is likely to find himself alone, like Don Quixote battling the windmills. Opposition stalwarts would rather distance themselves from Trillanes, especially when he directly accuses President Duterte of corruption or of shielding government officials from similar accusations. They are not ready to be deprived of public entitlements and resources.

Vice President Leni Robredo is reluctant to be as hard-hitting as Trillanes, preferring to rise to the occasion in immeasurable ways for the hungry and jobless, the calamity victims and the thousands sick with COVID1-19.

Robredo and Trillanes have brushed aside brickbats thrown their way, mostly by the DDS.

Other legislators, meanwhile, have opted to lie low during these tough times and continue to lose respect from voters.

Trillanes and Senators Ping Lacson and Manny Pacquiao will likely make a dependable blockbuster tandem going up again***st the corrupt in high places. But Christian piety is restraining our Pambansang Kamao from dragging the names of the corrupt and the thieves in his public tirades.

The following are stirring words from one of the most popular and beloved worship songs ever. “How Great Thou Art”: “O Lord, My God when I in awesome wonder consider all the worlds Thy hands have made. I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder. Thy power throughout the universe displayed.” Think about it. If God spoke the entire universe into existence – and He did – He can command anything in Creation to do his bidding. I contemplated on these lyrics last week while I started to pray for some relatives and friends who were very ill. The Word of God in the Bible becomes powerful when we who truly believe speak or preach them. The Bible says His word does not come back void until it has served its purpose.

God can indeed speak and drive any human affliction, sickness and suffering out of existence. “He sent his word and healeth them. He rescued them from the grave” (Psalm 107:20). Not many of us have any idea of the immense power of our awesome God because in many churches Jesus is not preached as the Resurrected Christ who still lives.

With His Resurrection came, according to Evangelist Guiilermo Maldonado, “the vindication of His identity,” along with His enduring loving and everlasting power to heal and forgive, to cast out demons and raise people from the dead, in His Name.

“I am The Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies, and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25) Many Christians wonder why the big Churches in our country have not been inclined towards more relentless healing and deliverance prayers through the Holy Spirit. Jesus himself called sickness, pain and suffering (emotional and mental) as enemies or demonic spirits that should be cast out.
