Dennis kept Andrea on her toes

Andrea Torres said she had to prepare thoroughly before a scene with Dennis Trillo.

ANDREA Torres is happy with the good reviews she is getting for her portrayal of Diane in GMA-7’s “Legal Wives”, now shown after “24 Oras.” Diane is the feisty second wife of Ismael, played by Dennis Trillo. She is a Christian and not used to the setup of sharing her husband with two other women who are Ismael’s Muslim wives.

“I want to thank everyone who says they’re enjoying watching our show,” says Andrea. “It helps that I had a great time taping it with Dennis Trillo. First time namin to work together and there’s good rapport from the start. ‘Yun nga lang, I have to be on my toes in doing our scenes together kasi everyone know how good an actor he is. Dapat lang na mag-prepare kang mabuti in every scene you’d do, but with Dennis, dapat mag-prepare ka five times more, kasi ang mga mata pa lang niya, nangungusap na, nagdadayalog na.”

Aside from her acting career, Andrea is also busy helping her mom in their food business online. Her Mama Emerita is a good cook so it’s not surprising that their business is doing well. You can order from them online via FamilyFavoritesph.

Andrea has also completed lock in taping for an online series titled “Betcin”, opposite the comebacking Kylie Padilla. They play a lesbian couple who are about to break up but they have to pretend to be still loving to each other to win a reality show where the prize is P10 million for the most ideal couple.

“Doing ‘Betcin’ is one my unforgettable experiences ever,” she says. “When they first offered it to me, sabi ko, kaya ko ba ito? But the whole experience is great for me. I had a great time not only with Kylie but also our directors, Shugo Praico and Philip King.”

Mikael Daez just renewed his contract as a GMA artist. He was last seen in the hit GMA primetime soap, “Love of My Life”, which is now being shown on Netflix.

“I started with GMA 11 years ago and it’s been a fruitful stay for me,” he says. “As a whole, it was a great learning experience and GMA helped me grow not only as a person but also in my craft as an actor. Renewing my contract with them makes me extremely happy. It shows that GMA is continuously willing to invest and take a chance on me and I’m very thankful for that.”

Mikael and his wife, former Miss World Megan Young, tied the knot in January last year, just before the pandemic. They still do not have a baby and it’s their choice.

“We felt it’s difficult to start a family at this time, so heto, ine-enjoy muna namin being a newly married couple and having our own vlog. Maybe sa 2022 na lang, when the health crisis is over at hindi na nakakatakot magpunta-punta sa hospital for checkups kung magbe-baby na.”

For a while, they thought of living in Subic. “We were able to buy some property there kasi parang masarap ang buhay away from the big city that Manila is. Kaya lang because of the pandemic, we felt na it’s still more practical to stay here because of the quarantine restrictions. Kung malayo kami, mahihirapan kaming magbiyahe because we have to get the right permits pa.”

Sean de Guzman never thought the pandemic will bring him good luck. It is while the country is reeling from the coronavirus that he was discovered last year in “Anak ng Macho Dancer”. Since then, he also did “Lockdown”, “Huling Birheng Bakla sa Balat ng Lupa”, “Nerisa”, “Taya” and now, “Bekis on the Run”, a total of six films.

His movies are being shown one after another, making him the busiest actor we have today. “Wala talagang katapusan ang pasasalamat ko kasi ‘yung iba, walang ginagawa, pero ako, sunod-sunod ang projects ko kaya wala akong mairereklamo,” he says at the Zoom press con of “Bekis on the Run.”

When asked what the name of his character in “Bekis” is, he was tongue tied for a while. “Pasencia na po, sunod-sunod nga kasi ang movies na ginagawa ko, ang scripts na binabasa at minememorya ko, kaya ayan, hindi ko natatandaan kung sino ako sa ‘Bekis on the Run’,” he said while laughing.

It was his co-star, Christian Bables, who reminded him that his character’s name is Martin. “Ay, oo nga pala. I play Martin, ex-lovers kami rito ni Christian and nang hinahabol na sila ng brother niyang si Diego Loyzaga ng mga pulis, sa apartment ko sila nagpunta para magtago.”

He has kissing scenes with Christian in the movie. “Actually, biglaan lang ‘yun. Wala sa script, pero sinabi ni Direk Joel Lamangan, kailangang gawin nyo, importante sa eksena. So ginawa na lang namin, ni hindi nga kami nakapag-toothbrush, pero mabuti na lang may dala silang mouthwash sa set so nagmumog muna kami.”

Is it possible for him to fall in love with a gay in real life? “Naku, I don’t see myself falling in love with a beki kasi girls talaga ang gusto. But I don’t have anything against guys na nai-in love sa gays. Basta this movie is really for them at tiyak kong magugustuhan nila ito so abangan nila when it starts streaming on
