Willie wants Randy to join AllTV

NADINE Lustre has really left her former boyfriend and ka-love team behind, James Reid, who’s been missing in action for some time now. In the case of Nadine, she has won best actress awards for “Never Not Love You,” rested for a while, then returned to acting via streaming in the Vivamax drama, “Greed.”

And now, she will next be seen on the big screen no less, in Viva’s Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry, “Deleter.” “I am so proud of this project, so different from anything I’ve done before as it’s my first horror film,” she says. “Most of my movies before were rom-com or drama at heto nga, the right horror project came in ‘Deleter’ and sobrang swerte nga that we qualified as an official entry in the Metro Manila film fest.”

We all know horror flicks do very well in MMFF so Nadine’s “Deleter” has a good chance of becoming a blockbuster. Would she still be willing to work with James Reid in the future?

“Why not? If it’s a really good project, fine with me as I’m a very collaborative person. We parted naman as friends at hindi naman kami magkaaway. Our fans nga continue to ask me kung kailan kami uli magtatambal and it’s 2023 na soon, so maybe we can start a new chapter.”

Director Joel Lamangan has had two LGBT themed official entries in the MMFF, “Rainbow Sunset” and “Isa Pang Bahaghari,” which both won awards. He now comes up with another such entry, “My Father Myself,” said to be based on a true story. “Pero binago ko ang ending kasi very tragic ang true story,” he says.

The film stars Jake Cuenca and Dimples Romana as a married couple with one daughter, Tiffany Grey. Jake adopts the son of his late best friend, Allan Paule, and treats the boy like his own child, a true member of their family.

The boy grows up to be Sean de Guzman. A big conflict arises when Jake and Sean get sexually attracted to each other. It turns out Jake had a gay affair before with Sean’s father and the boy saw them kissing.

The problem is Sean has also impregnated Tiffany who is considered to be his sister since they grew up together. It turns out “tinuhog ni Sean ang mag-ama,” having gone to bed with both of them, and Dimples is so scandalized.

Direk Joel is sad that the MTRCB gave the film an R-18 rating.

“Ayaw nila ng kabaklaang movie na serious ang treatment, gusto nila ng kabaklaang movie na comedy, nagpapatawa.”

As a director, Direk Joel has a long history of his films winning so many awards in the annual film fest. Does he think his new movie, “My Father Myself,” has a chance to win any award come MMFF awards night?

“Lahat ng artista ko rito, puro mahuhusay and I have a feeling na malakas ang laban nila. I handpicked Jake Cuenca for the role of the closeted human rights lawyer who had an affair with the peasant leader played by Allan Paule. Napakahusay niya rito at may laban siya.”

‘Gusto ni Willie na magkasama kami uli. He also wants me to direct. — Randy Santiago’

Randy Santiago is happy and proud to be part of “Sing Galing,” the hit and award-winning videoke game show on TV5.

“Sobrang galing ng lahat ng contestants,” he says. “Maging ‘yung sa kiddie edition o ‘yung sa adult edition. Grabe! Lahat sila, so impressive, nakakatuwa. Lahat sila, pang grand finals. ‘Yung finals for the kids is on December 3 and ‘yung sa regulars, December 10.”

Randy turned 62 years old on November 26, the eldest of the Santiago brothers that include Rowell, Jun and Raymart, the sons of Director Pablo Santiago and former actress Cielito Legaspi. Willie Revillame is now getting him to be part of AllTV on Channel 2.

“But my contract with TV5 is until the end of the year pa,” he says. “Gusto ni Willie na magkasama kami uli. He also wants me to direct. I heard magkakaroon din ng sariling noontime show ang AllTV, but as of now, nothing is definite.”
