‘I heard she’s sick at lalo na akong hindi sasagot, dadalhin ko pa ‘yan parang ang bigat-bigat. Let’s just stay positive. — Bea Alonzo’
BEA Alonzo started her career with ABS-CBN in 2003. She’s now in GMA-7’s “Start Up PH” and she says it’s perfect for her as she’s starting a new chapter in her career as a Kapuso.

“I was with GMA Pinoy TV show in the States when it started airing and I was so happy as all our shows were sold out,” she says. “When I came back, I was told that ‘Start Up PH’ is rating well and the feedback on the net is all very positive. I’m happy that ‘Start Up PH’ is my first project with GMA as the production values are all excellent. I also get to work not only with Alden Richards, Yasmien Kurdi and Jeric Gonzales but with the senior stars like Gina Alajar, Jackielou Blanco, Ayen Laurel na kay sarap kakuwentuhan sa set.”
What’s her most memorable scene in the show? “It has to be the revelation scene with Alden kasi it’s the peak of the story. We shot it na ulanan nang buong araw, from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Dapat abangan nyo ‘yun.”
Veteran writer Lolit Solis continues to bash her after she was not invited to Bea’s press con for Beautederm, but Bea never replied.
“I will never reply because hindi ko naman nababasa what she writes about me. People just tell me about it. But I respect her so much, although we’ve never met, we’ve never been introduced or spoke to each other. I heard she’s sick at lalo na akong hindi sasagot, dadalhin ko pa ‘yan parang ang bigat-bigat. Let’s just stay positive. I will sincerely pray for her healing and for her to get well soon.”
Bea’s career continues to be blessed. Right after “Start Up PH,” GMA wants her to start another series. She’s also making several movies and has just finished doing three new TV commercials that will be coming out one of these days.

Andrea del Rosario, star of the serious relationship drama, “May-December-January” that opens in theaters this Wednesday, says she never thought she’d be offered to do another lead role.
“I mean, let’s face it, I’m 44,” she says. “My days as a Viva Hot Babe doing lead roles are over. I’ve accepted na pang-character roles na ko. I did ‘Love You Stranger’ on GMA and now I’m in ‘Dirty Linen’ on ABS-CBN. When Boss Vic del Rosario called me and told me I’d do this film, siempre, yes agad ako. I mean, the script is written by Ricky Lee, a National Artist no less, saan ka pa, ‘di ba?”
The film’s director, Mac Alejandre, says Andrea is their first and only choice. “She perfectly fits the role of Claire as one hot mama na kahit may anak ng grown-up, desirable pa rin sa mga bata,” he says. “She’s mother to Gold Aceron and falls in love with his best friend, Kych Minemoto, but she later finds out that Gold, who’s gay, is in love with Kych. The mother is the fulcrum of the film and Andrea, all throughout the shoot, she’s always in character. Kahit mahahaba ang eksena, including the love scenes, she never complained. Silang tatlo nina Gold and Kych, kahit mahihirap ang scenes, wala kang maririnig sa kanila. I am so happy with their performance. Lahat sila may sariling moment where they shine.”
We ask Ricky Lee if he’s happy with the movie. “Yes, I’m very happy with the movie. It captured our vision. And we’re so happy with Andrea. Kuhang-kuha niya ang lalim ng character.”
How has being named a National Artist affected him? “Nawala ‘yung sarili ko, napalitan ng title. Ako kasi, I want to have a low profile. I don’t want a lot of attention. But now, I get a lot of invitations at lagi, I’m introduced as National Artist. Pero natutuwa na rin ako kasi napunta ang attention hindi lang sa akin but to writers in general.”

Barbie Forteza has reason to rejoice. Her new primetime show, “Maria Clara at Ibarra,” is doing so well in the ratings game and viewers are uniformly praising her performance as Klay, the nursing student from modern times who is studying history and is mysteriously transported into the world of Jose Rizal’s novel, “Noli Me Tangere.”
Barbie is really the pivotal character in the show who connects the past with the present and everything that happens in the world of “Noli” is seen through her eyes. She wants to thank all those who watched the show in its first week of telecast.
“Bilang isang artista, it’s really so fulfilling to know that viewers appreciate your work,” she says. “My goal is really to make the character of Klay engaging and endearing. Andaming problema ni Klay sa buhay at mabigat ang kanyang mga pinagdaraanan but she’s a feisty character and giving life to her inspires me to do better.”
To be honest, what we like in the show is that it’s not just a remake of a Koreanovela but an original material that delves on relevant local issues about our society and even champions female empowerment. Barbie uphold women’s rights and how important education is for them since some of the men tend to belittle women, so she makes them realize the importance of gender equality.
