She can play the role of one of three wives but she will not agree to the same arrangement in real life.
ANDREA Torres is proud to be part of “Legal Wives” which was presented to the press last Monday night. It’s really impressive, based on what we’ve seen, epic in its scope and sprawling in its execution. It’s evident that GMA-7 spent a lot for the production. What’s her role in “Legal Wives”?
“My name is Diane San Luis, the only Christian sa three wives in Dennis Trillo as Ihmael,” she says. “She loves Ishmael and wants their marriage to work, but maraming conflicts sa tatlong wives. Lagi kaming nagbabangayan, si Dennis and Alice Dixson and Bianca Umali.”
She wouldn’t want to be in the same shoes as Diane. “Mahirap for us Christians to understand the concept ng polygyny, kasi sanay tayo sa monogamy, but in this show, what Dennis did is a selfless act. Kasi ang ginawa niya, it’s their way of helping or saving a person na nabiyuda like Alice o na-rape like Bianca. Eye opener for me doing this show kasi nalaman kong ang Muslims, very family oriented ang culture nila.”
Why did her character consent to being just one of the wives?
“Si Diane, in love talaga siya kay Dennis kaya pumayag siya sa ganoong setup. Dapat mapaintindi ko kunsaan siya nanggagaling, para naman viewers won’t see her just as a contravida. May Muslims and Imam on the set as consultants to guide us.”
She just renewed her contract with GMA for five years. Is she doing a sitcom with John Lloyd Cruz?
“Narinig ko lang ‘yan sa kuwento-kuwento, but there is no official announcement yet from GMA, so I cannot claim na yes, I’ll do it. But I’m happy kung matutuloy, kasi fan ako ni John Lloyd and I’ve never done a sitcom, so sana nga, matuloy.”
We all know what she went through in her recent aborted love life. How is she now?
“Masaya ang puso ko kasi I’m busy nga and nae-excite ako sa mga gagawin kong projects this year. Ang ganda nga ng timing ng pagdating sa’kin ng ‘Legal Wives.’ It’s a great project and it helped me move on, kasi happiest talaga ako when I’m working.”
Is she open to having new suitors?
“Yes naman. Kasi siempre, dapat lang na may time din for that, right? Kapag may ibinigay si Lord, why not? But as of now, I’m sobrang inspired sa work kasi na-miss ko ring magtrabaho.”
“Legal Wives” will start airing this Monday, July 26, right after “The World Between Us.”

The “KimJe” love team of Jerald Napoles and Kim Molina are back in a new movie so different from their past two outings: “Jowable” and “Babaeng Walang Pakiramdam.” They now star in “Ako at Ikaw at ang Ending,” written and directed by Irene Villamor.
“This is our third film na magkapareha kami at ibang-iba ang genre nito sa mga nagawa namin before kasi drama ito na may halong action,” says Jerald. “May chase scenes kami rito, barilan, takbuhan at daring bed scenes na naka-underwear lang kami.”
“We got very excited when Viva told us we’d do a film with Direk Irene,” says Kim. “Sabi namin, Direk, sure ka ba, kami gusto mong makasama? Kasi, ang mga dinirek niya before, mga Dingdong Dantes, Anne Curtis, Bela Padilla, Carlo Aquino. Oo raw, kami raw, so grabe, very thankful kami na nagtiwala siya sa amin at ipinaglaban niya talaga kami.”
We ask Direk Irene how is it working with comedians doing serious roles. “It’s fun kasi sa kanila nga ako humihingi ng tulong on how to interpret their characters as Mylene and Martin,” says the director. “Kasi mahuhusay silang aktor, so malaki ang tulong nila in giving inputs about their roles na parehong fierce and astig. Sa bedscenes, hindi ako nahirapan kasi sila pa nga ang nagsasabi sa’kin, o ano pa ang gusto mong ipagawa sa amin. Kaibigan ko rin sila, so I know how much they can give bilang artista. Ang peg ko sa movie is ‘Thelma and Louise’ na you and me against the world ang characters and they did it really well.”
