THE chief of the PNP’s anti-drug unit and 10 other police colonels have been promoted to the next higher rank of brigadier general.
A PNP order dated February 9 showed the officers were promoted “by the direction” of President Marcos Jr. The order was signed by PNP director for personnel and records management Maj. Gen. Belli Tamayo.
Those promoted were led by Col. Dionisio Bartolome Jr., the director of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) which is leading the PNP’s campaign against illegal drugs.
Bartolome’s promotion to the one-star rank came seven months after he assumed command as PDEG director. He was previously the deputy chief of the PNP Criminal and Detection Group before his designation as PDEG chief.
Also promoted are now Brigadier Generals Regelio Simon, director of the Police Security Protection Group director; Jericho Baldeo, chief of the PNP Human Rights Affairs Office; and Christopher Abrahano, senior executive assistant to PNP chief Gen. Benjamin Acorda;
Nestor Babagay Jr., executive officer of the PNP directorate for intelligence; Noel Sandoval, executive officer of the PNP directorate for investigation and detection management; Noel Vallo, executive officer of the PNP directorate for logistics;
Manuel Abrugena, Jovencio Badua, Alegre Martinez, and Eleazar Matta, the deputy chiefs for administration of the PNP Special Action Force, Ilocos regional police office, Calabarzon regional police office, and Caraga regional police office, respectively.
