P6.8M shabu seized in Lanao, couple nabbed

OPERATIVES of the PNP Drug Enforcement Group arrested a couple and seized a kilo of suspected shabu worth P6.8 million in Wao town in Lanao del Sur on Saturday afternoon.

In a report to PNP chief Debold Sinas, PDEG Director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee identified the suspects as Busran Saripada, 64, alias commander Manong; and his wife Monira, 46.

Lee said the couple was nabbed by operatives of the PDEG-Special Operations Unit 9 in a buy-bust operation at around 2 p.m. in Purok 2, Barangay West Kilikili in Wao town.

Forces from the Wao police station and 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Lanao del Sur Provincial Police augmented the PDEG operatives in the conduct of the operation.

“Because the anti-illegal drugs program is a national crusade, then it shall be among the flagship law enforcement campaigns of the PNP,” Sinas said while commending the PDEG for the arrest of the couple.

Also on Saturday in Benguet, police operatives swooped down on two clandestine marijuana plantations in Sitio Lepsik and Sitio Mabilig, both in Barangay Kayapa in Bakun town.

Police said a total of 1,160 fully-grown marijuana plants, estimated to be worth P232,000, were uprooted. The marijuana plants were later burned on site.

Two persons were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Marikina City on Saturday, with P156,400 worth of suspected drugs seized.

Col. Restituto Arcangel, local police chief, identified the two as Jay Mark Bolante, 25; and Julie Ann Batacandolo, 31. — With Christian Oineza
