FOR the third straight day, new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases stayed within the 2K range but 77 more lost their battle against the deadly virus, according to the Department of Health.
In its latest bulletin, the DOH said total cases in the country rose to 3,644,597, counting the 2,671 new infections, while the death toll climbed to 55,223 for a case fatality rate of 1.52 percent.
New cases, however, rose dramatically from just 2,010 last Tuesday.
The current positivity rate in the Philippines stood at 9.6 percent among the 25,629 tested samples on February 14.
Active cases dipped to 68,829 from 72,305 last Tuesday, with over 63,000 mild cases and more than 2,900 moderate cases.
The health department also reported 6,130 additional recoveries, raising the number of survivors to 3,520,545. The DOH said the recovery rate stood at 96.6 percent.
