Typhoon ‘Opong’ leaves 10 dead, 13 missing – OCD

TEN people died and 13 others remain missing due to typhoon “Opong,” the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) said on Friday.

OCD deputy administrator for administration Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said seven of the fatalities perished in Biliran due to flash flood and storm surge.

Alejandro said the three others died in Masbate – one due to drowning, while a fallen tree and a collapsed concrete wall hit the two others.

He said these deaths are “subject for verification and validation.”

Alejandro also said 13 are still missing, including six fishermen from Eastern Samar and Leyte, and four senior citizens from Biliran.

The three other missing individuals are fishermen from Palawan.
