THE Mandaluyong government has released a new version of PWD (persons with disability) IDs as a deterrent to those using fake IDs.
Mayor Menchie Abalos encouraged current holders of PWD IDs to go to the office of the Persons with Disability Affairs Division (PDAD) to replace their IDs with the new version made of PVC (polyvinyl chloride).
According to PDAD head Wennah Marquez, the city’s new PWD ID already contains a QR code where other important information of its owner is placed.
In addition to this, the PWD ID verification system, which can be found on the official website of the city, was launched simultaneously at www.mandaluyong.gov.ph.
Abalos said that with the new PWD ID for Mandaleños, it would be harder to forge or fake these IDs and use them without the owner’s knowledge.
