Lent 2023: Manila Cathedral opens doors for confession

HALFWAY through the Lenten Season, the Manila Cathedral is opening its doors for the faithful looking to make their confessions before the Holy Week.

In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral announced that it will be open for confession six days a week during the Lenten Season.

“We welcome all of you to the Manila Cathedral, the Mother Church of our country,” the post said, adding: “The Sacrament of Confession is available from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.”

Aside from making their confessions, the acknowledged Mother of all churches, cathedrals, and basilicas of the Philippines said it is open to all to do their Lenten pilgrimages.

“We hope that your visit to our Cathedral will truly be a spiritual experience to prepare ourselves for the worthy celebration of the Paschal Mystery of our Lord,” it said.

Activities include venerating the Relic of the True Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, which will be exposed to the public for the Lenten season.

Pilgrims were also invited to pray the Stations of the Cross around the Manila Cathedral.

It also noted the opening of the Adoration Chapel of the Manila Cathedral for quiet personal prayers.

It said devotees may also light votive candles in front of the image of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
