FOUR Chinese kidnappers were killed while a Chinese kidnap victim was rescued after a shootout between the suspects and police operatives in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Monday night.
The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) named the slain suspects as Yiping You and Heng Lin, both of Fujian, China; Jinming Gong of Guangdong, China; and Fengqiang Li of Shandong, China.
Rescued was Lyu Xingou, a native of Fujian, China who is currently residing in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City.
Police said Xingou was abducted last May 25 while he was at the garage of his residence.
He was preparing to go to work at the Mactan Newtown complex in Lapu-Lapu City when he was seized at gunpoint.
The suspects demanded a ransom of one million RMB from the victim’s son, Lyu Xicia, who is based in China. The demand was later reduced to 500,000 RMB, which the victim’s family paid.
Operatives of the AKG Visayas Field Unit, which had earlier been notified of the incident, were able to trace the whereabouts of the kidnappers and the victim.
AKG operatives, in coordination with the Lapu-Lapu City police station and PNP Highway Patrol Group, surveilled the suspects’ safehouse in Aldea del Sol Subdivision in Barangay Bangkal.
At around 9:30 p.m., after confirming the presence of the suspects, AKG operatives swooped down on the safehouse, according to AKG director Brig. Gen. Rudolph Dimas.
“While the operatives were about to enter the house, firefight ensued leading to the neutralization of the suspects and safe rescue of the victim,” said Dimas.
