AT least 30 motorcycle riders were accosted by traffic enforcers yesterday for using the bike lane along Epifanio de los Santos Ave.
Sharon Gentalian of the MMDA Public Information Office said the riders were accosted from “7 a.m. to 3 p.m.” from the ‘entire stretch of EDSA, north and southbound directions.”
Asked why only 30 were accosted, Gentalian said maybe it was due to Monday being a holiday, leading only to a small number of motorcycle riders plying EDSA.
She said they were not issued traffic citation tickets with the corresponding P1,000 penalty for disregarding the policy.
“They were only accosted but were not issued the corresponding ticket yet,” she said, adding that MMDA Chairperson Romando Artes will probably hold a press conference today where updates will be announced.
Artes earlier said that based on their monitoring, many motorcycle riders use the bike lane, easing out bikers.
