POLICE operatives arrested on Sunday three suspects in the ambush of former Pangasinan governor Amado Espino Jr. in September last year in San Carlos City, Pangasinan.
The three — Benjie Resultan, Albert Palisoc, and Armando Frias — were arrested at around 10:45 a.m. in Barangay Poblacion, San Juan, Batangas.
They were nabbed by operatives of the San Juan police station, backed by other police units, armed with arrest warrants for murder and frustrated murder.
Palisoc, Resultan and Frias are the 18th, 19th and 20th most wanted persons, respectively, in the Ilocos region, according to San Juan police. It added that Frias is classified as a “high-value target” in the war against drugs in the Ilocos region.
The three, residents of Urbiztondo town in Pangasinan, are said to be members of the Raul Sison criminal group.
Police recovered from them two caliber .45 pistols, two magazines, 20 rounds of ammunition, a Nissan Sentra car with plate No. ZFR 953, and a fake driver’s license.
The three were among the 22 suspects indicted for the ambush on the convoy of Espino in September 2019.
Espino survived but was injured in the attack. His driver, Agapito Cuison, and police escort, Staff Sgt. Richard Esguerra, died. Two other companions of Espino were injured.
