3 Napocor employees, 3 others rescued by PCG off Romblon

PHILIPPINE Coast Guard (PCG) personnel rescued three employees of the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) along with the captain and two crew members of a distressed motor banca off Romblon last Monday.

In a statement, the PCG said the NAPOCOR-owned motor banca, named NPC Spug-3, departed the San Agustin Port in Romblon last Monday en route to Simara Island, also Romblon.

“While underway, the motor banca’s rudder was detached, causing a loss of propulsion,” the PCG said.

The incident occurred in the waters off Barangay Poblacion in San Agustin, Romblon.

NAPOCOR authorities reported the incident to the Coast Guard Sub-Station San Agustin, which promptly dispatched a team to conduct a search and rescue (SAR) operation.

“The Coast Guard SAR team sighted MB NPC Spug-3 and ensured the safety of the six individuals on board,” the PCG said.

It said the passengers, the boat captain, and the two crew members were brought to the San Agustin Port. They are all in “good physical condition,” the PCG said.

The motor banca was towed to the San Agustin Port.
