Int’l group picks fashion designer for grand Santacruzan

Fashion designer Marianne Martin was chosen as one of 10 participants in a grand Santacruzan sponsored by Dubai-based Global Women Empowerment Summit (GWES) on Thursday, June 2 at Marriott Hotel.

Twenty fashion designers were screened for the event. Only 10 — Renee Salud, Jun-Jun Cambe, Nardi Presa, Steve de Leon, Ulysees King, Ariel Simon Vaquez, Mixy Dy, Ramon Santiago, Albert Fontanilla, Jay Layson and Marianne, made it.

Foreign dignitaries, ambassadors and international delegates are expected to watch the event.

The event is supported by His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid AlMaktoum, prime minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai. GWES is dedicated to empowering women all over the world.

Instead of feeling pressured, Marianne prefers to focus on creating bright-colored, fashionable gowns modern Filipina.

Marianne recently bagged Crystal International Women’s Young Fashion Icon of the Year 2022 award in ceremonies at Okada Manila.

The award, timed for the worldwide celebration of women’s month in March, acknowledges the success of women. It also honors women of perseverance, those who devote their time to help others and make a difference.

Marianne says it inspires her even more to empower fellow women, to make them feel good about themselves through the clothes they wear.

The young designer recently presented her latest collections at the Fashion Forte show in Crowne Plaza Hotel. The designs exuded calmness, enthusiasm and positivity. As a nod to the pandemic, Marianne’s models wore dresses, skirts and gowns that showed simplicity. It had less beads, Swarovski crystals and embellishments.

John Fernandez, the late veteran designer Criselda Lontok, praised Marianne’s creations, which members of the jampacked audience hailed as “powerful and amazing.”

Her show celebrated the “goddess within,” which stands for feminine strength and confidence.

Marianne will soon be featured in an LED billboard along EDSA, Pasay and Roxas Boulevard.
