Oil industry leader Petron Corporation was among the organizers of the 2021 Highway Run held on October 2 to celebrate 14 years of big bikes with engine displacements of at least 400cc being allowed on expressways.
The commemorative event was initiated by the Mad Dog Motorcycle Club, which spearheaded the advocacy to open up the Philippine toll roads to large displacement motorcycles. The petition was granted on September 28, 2007 by the Toll Regulatory Board with the Department of Transportation and Communication.
Motorcycle clubs gathered at two venues – at Petron San Pedro Laguna on the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), and at Petron Pura Tarlac along the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX) on October 2 to celebrate the event. Over 500 riders convened at the designated Petron SLEX station, while around 100 riders dropped in at the TPLEX venue.
Another highlight of the event was a special promotion, where eligible riders were able to avail of 3-liters Petron Sprint 4T Fully Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil.
