BINIBINING Pilipinas Intercontinental 2021 Cinderella Faye “Cindy” Obeñita and Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2021 Maureen Hiwatig Montagne were given a virtual sendoff via Zoom last week before embarking on their respective journeys to represent the Philippines in their international pageants.
Obeñita, Cindy for short, 25, will vie for the Miss Intercontinental crown. The pageant will be held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt on October 29. She left for Egypt last Wednesday.
The Mass Communications magna cum laude graduate of Liceo de Cagayan de Oro said she is 99 percent prepared and will perfect the remaining one percent once she arrives in Egypt. She aims to become the second Filipina to wear the Miss Intercontinental crown after Karen Gallman in 2018.
Maureen, 28, will compete in the Miss Globe in Tirana, Albania on November 5. She will leave for Albania on Wednesday.
Maureen is a Filipino-French beauty who was born in Chandler, Arizona to an American father of French descent and a Filipina mother who is originally from Padre Garcia, Batangas.
A veteran of several beauty and fitness competitions, including the Miss Eco International 2019 tilt where she placed second, Maureen said she will do her best to give the Philippines another Miss Globe crown after Ann Colis who won in Montreal, Canada in 2015.
Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. chair Stella Marquez Araneta, the other Binibining Pilipinas queens as well as their respective families, gave their well wishes virtually.
“My dearest Cindy and Maureen, I wish you the best of luck in representing the Philippines on the international stage. Embrace this opportunity to show the world the best qualities of a Filipina. You have the full support of Binibining Pilipinas in your next big adventure. We know you will give your all, so believe in yourself, just have fun, and bring home the crown,” Mrs. Araneta said.
