A celebratory return for Rex Smith

Songs have a way of rekindling forgotten memories. For American singer Rex Smith, his upcoming one night only concert is a celebration of the return of the live concert scene and the chance to remember the past while creating new ones in the process.

Smith said that he still remembers the first time that he visited the Philippines in 2000. “In my flight on Philippines Airlines, the stewardess started singing ‘And I don’t know how I knew it,’ and the whole plane — front to back — were singing along,” he recalled. This has led to many repeat visits, the latest of which was in 2019.

Since that first visit, Smith has fallen in love with the Philippines and is thankful that his music has been embraced by Filipinos over the years. “There’s a double helping of joy in my heart that I’ve not only been accepted, but embraced here. My music is interwoven in the fabric of the Philippines in its own way. There’s a part of my heart here and I’m so glad to be back,” he shared.

Concertgoers can join Smith in singing along to his hit tunes such as the 1979 hit “Simply Jessie,” “You Take My Breath Away,” “Let’s Make A Memory,” and many more. Award-winning local singers JV Decena and Joaquin Garcia will also be on the stage as guests artists. Smith also hinted that the concert will not be solely about ballads, but will also include fun up-tempo music to get the crowd going — a nod to his roots as a vocalist in a rock band.

The concert will be held at Winford Hotel & Casino Manila’s Grand Ballroom on Wednesday, February 22. The Tickets to the concert dubbed Rex Smith “Let’s Make a memory” LIVE are now available for P2500 (VIP) and P2000 (Deluxe).
