The Tariff Commission (TC) said it will assess the impact of the expiry of the definitive anti-dumping duty imposed on wheat flour imported from Turkey on the local milling industry.
In an announcement posted on its website, the TC said it will hold a public hearing to determine whether or not the expiry of the duty last January would likely result in the continuation or recurrence of material injury to the domestic wheat flour industry.
The hearings will be held virtually on July 20 to 24 and July 27 to 31.
The body has given interested parties until July 13 to submit position papers.
Local millers last year requested for a five-year extension of the dumping duty ahead of the expiry last January.
The Anti-Dumping Law (Republic Act 8752) requires that a petition for extension be filed at least six months before expiry date.
The industry alleged the continued dumping of Turkish flour remains a threat as millers have yet to fully recover their losses.
The TC imposed the dumping duty of 16.19 percent on Turkish flour in January, 2015.
