Shopee donates ₱1 million worth of rice to more than 20,000 Mayon evacuees

Joey Sarte Salceda to distribute ₱1,000,000 worth of rice aid to over 20,000 individuals impacted by the ongoing unrest of Mayon Volcano. The ArteFino Maker’s Lab: Totally Upcycled Design Challenge 2023 called on Filipino designers to apply their creativity, resourcefulness, and innovation by repurposing “everyday” items into “extraordinary” objects. Entries were judged on the ability to incorporate this year’s theme: “Heritage meets innovation,” with at least 80% of upcycled material.
The three winners this year were: Ash and Muff (soft rosaries and plush parols), TAGPI (Pagsibol barong), and CatSua (mosaic sandal).

Ronald McDonald House Charities and Quezon City join forces for children’s literacy

In partnership with the local government of Quezon City, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC), the charity of choice of McDonald’s, strengthens its commitment to children’s literacy with its reading program that is expected to benefit 4,750 number of Grade 1 learners in 95 public elementary schools in Quezon City. The partnership was formalized through a MOA signing held last August 14.
RMHC’s Ronald McDonald Read to Learn program is a beginning reading program in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and Adarna House.
Ronald McDonald Read to Learn aims to improve the reading ability of grade 1 students from Quezon City public schools by providing access to appropriate reading materials and equipping teachers with the necessary skills to teach beginning reading.
