MPIC unveils Ang Kulay ng Pag-Gabay calendar
Metro Pacific Investments Corp. (MPIC) recently released its 2022 corporate calendar Ang Kulay ng Pag-Gabay, highlighting the six MVP Gabay Advocacies for a Sustainable Philippines: kalikasan, kalusugan, karunungan, komunidad, kabataan and kabuhayan.
The company’s second coloring book-style calendar features the entire Manuel V. Pangilinan Group’s positive community impact programs.
The imagery figuratively depicts the outline that all the company’s subsidiaries, beneficiaries, and stakeholders bring color to through each unique program.
‘Bears of Joy’ charity project

SM Cares, SM Supermalls and Toy Kingdom recently concluded their annual Christmas charity project, the SM Bears of Joy campaign.
The project encourages mall shoppers to include a pair of specially designed bear plushies in their holiday shopping – one for them to keep and the other for donation to children in communities.
Priced at P250 per pair, 2021’s set of plushies (Cookie the Baker Bear, Sunny the Plant Lover Bear, Cammy the Vlogger Bear, and Journey the Biker Bear) were created with four of the most common interests and hobbies that helpedFilipinos get through the pandemic.
Some 26,115 pairs sold across 62 on-ground and five online platforms, benefitting 67 NGOs, LGUs, orphanages, and foundations in the country.
Trends in printing

Oplan TAWID launched
The Department of Education (DepEd) together with Microsoft and CloudSwyft have launched Oplan TAWID (technology-assisted work immersion delivery), a focused skilling program with five key industry partners in a collective effort to provide critical skills development and increase the employability of graduating senior high school (SHS) students across the Philippines.
The program focuses on three main areas: enhancing digital literacy through training and certification on Microsoft Office or Microsoft Azure Cloud fundamentals, each integrating extensive practical experience and assessment via virtual labs technology; strengthening ‘soft skills’ such as communication, collaboration, creativity and critical thinking and; increasing employability by linking students to employers for relevant industry immersions
DepEd’s Oplan TAWID follows the successful nationwide implementation of the “Building an Impactful Resume and Online Professional Brand” program mounted in May last year.
InLife’s Aguas opens Asia Women’s Forum

RAFI helps rebuild lives and homes
More than a month after Typhoon Odette devastated the Visayas region, the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) has been working closely with the affected communities to alleviate the typhoon’s disastrous impact. To know the actual situation on the ground, RAFI deployed teams to conduct rapid assessment and validation and has been implementing a phased approach to its humanitarian relief operation plans to aid those affected by the typhoon.

Over the course of Phase 1, the “Emergency Relief Phase”, RAFI lent 34 generator sets to water refilling stations, distributed 279,580 liters of water, and provided 143,866 relief packs to thousands of families in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Occidental, and Southern Leyte.
Apart from relief goods, RAFI also conducted psychosocial initiatives to help the young survivors of Odette cope with trauma sustained during the ordeal.
RAFI will soon transition its efforts towards the Recovery and Rehabilitation phases by February with the untiring support of its partners from individuals to private corporations, government agencies and international NGOs.
Bayad ties up with Zybi Tech

From zero-COVID to living with COVID
Four experts from the Philippines, Indonesia, Taiwan and Singapore were brought together for an in-depth discussion into the topic of making the dream of living with COVID-19 a reality last January 19 through Zoom.
The panel, titled “Recalibrating Inclusive Health and Economic Recovery in Southeast Asia: From Zero-COVID-19 to Living with COVID-19,” discussed some problems that caused distrust among the public during the start of the pandemic including allegations of corruption and issues like the Dengvaxia controversy and have become stumbling blocks that sowed distrust in the minds of many Filipinos.
Dr. Manuel Dayrit, former health secretary, said the Philippines needs to invest in building its capacity to produce vaccines as it will be key in addressing the needs of our people. “We need to have some form of vaccine production capacity. Even if we can’t do the research, we need to have the capacity to be able to copy and produce. If we can do that, we will have some security when it comes to vaccine supplies.”
361 PNP officials pass NAPOLCOM PESE written exam
A total of 361 Police Lieutenant Colonels passed the Police Executive Service Eligibility (PESE) Written Examination conducted by the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) on October 10, 2021 in Quezon City, Cebu City and Davao City. The total number of passers represent 67.85% of the 532 senior police officials who took the first phase of the PESE examination.
NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman and Executive Officer Vitaliano N. Aguirre II said that the aforesaid 361 Police Lieutenant Colonels are qualified to take the Validation Interview which is scheduled on February 19, 20, 26 and 27 at the NAPOLCOM Central Office in Quezon City. Examinees will be notified of their schedule through call or text.
“Those who will pass the Validation Interview will be conferred with a PESE Certificate in a formal conferment ceremony,” Vice Chairman Aguirre II said.
The PESE examination has two phases, the Written Examination and the Validation Interview. Both phases contain analytical questions on police leadership and police values in order to test the competence, skills and mettle of the future leaders of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“The PESE is an eligibility requirement for the third-level ranks of Police Colonel, Police Brigadier General, Police Major General, Police Lieutenant General, and Police General,” Vice Chairman Aguirre II said.
