CHEVRON volunteer week, TANDUAY award, BIR partnership, FUJITSU recognition, TOYOTA promos, HCPI bats for safety, MAPUA cybersecuritytraining, SBFI classroom donation

Chevron Volunteer Week 2021

Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants, held its second blended annual Chevron Volunteer Week with both virtual and real-world activities.

Volunteer Week 2021 started with Project Oh My Gulay wherein Chevron sourced vegetables from farmers in Pampanga and Nueva Ecija through partner St. Isidore the FARMer Learning Center Inc., a training center for the development of agriculture. The vegetables were donated to 80 families in Brgy. Pagibig sa Nayon in Quezon City together with three-days-worth of food supplies.

Chevron volunteers attended a virtual cooking workshop hosted by Chef Joy Escobar where they learned how to prepare organic and healthy dishes.

The second activity held was Project Bokashi Compost, facilitated by Karen Pascua, a certified Bokashi Compost Mentor and Edible Urban Gardener. Volunteers were taught the importance of food waste diversion and composting using Bokashi Technology.

Chevron also donated Bokashi Compost kits and grocery packs to 56 families in Tondo, Manila through St. John Bosco Parish and Bureau of Plant Industry’s Gulayan ni Juan.

A staple activity in Chevron Volunteer Week is the annual Batangas Coastal clean-up, held every September in time for the International Coastal Clean-up month.

The last activity  is Project Joy led by a certified KonMari consultant, Renalyn Tan Castillejos. Chevron volunteers learned the Konmari method wherein they had to let go of the things that don’t spark joy anymore but can still be beneficial to those who are in need.

Tanduay named Brand of the Year

The Lucio Tan (LT) Group’s Tanduay was named Brand of the Year 2021-2022 at the recent World Branding Awards at Kensington Palace. Tanduay was the only brand to receive such an award under the Alcoholic Beverages – Rum category.

The recognition was given by the prestigious World Branding Forum, a registered global non-profit organization based in London. It held its ceremony online this year, with television presenter Jemma Forte as host.

Five hundred brands from more than 60 countries were named Brand of the Year for different categories. Out of all the brands, Among the national-tier winners from other countries were Telstra from Australia, Bangkok Bank from Thailand, ToastBox from Singapore, and Carrefour from France, among others.

“As we further expand our business in other countries, we are honored to receive these international recognitions from esteemed organizations such as the World Branding Forum. Very few brands from each country are chosen to the Brand of the Year, and we are ecstatic to be aligned with such great brands,” said Lucio Tan III, president and chief operating officer of Tanduay.

BIR partners with MyEG Ph, DBP

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has partnered with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and MyEG, a market leader in electronic solutions championing government services online automation, for the implementation of its new and improved online payment service allowing citizens to pay their BIR online tax payment via www.myeg.ph.

Paying taxes via the MyEG’s BIR Tax ePayment is easy, convenient, and hassle-free. All taxpayers need to do is to simply log in at www.myeg.ph and choose among the different BIR form series and tax type they need to pay and will be redirected immediately to the MyEG’s payment gateway where they can choose their preferred payment option. This entire process will only take less than a minute and payments are posted real-time.

Other BIR Philippine taxes that they can be paid includes withholding tax, value-added tax, percentage tax, documentary stamp tax, fringe benefit tax and corporate income tax.

Outstanding company

Fujitsu’s Global Delivery Center (GDC) in the Philippines has been recognized for outstanding environmental performance, outstanding community projects, and has received a special citation COVID-19 response award from the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).

In the Philippines, Fujitsu’s GDC is committed to making the world sustainable. It focuses on building trust in society through innovation and supporting the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Employees at the Philippines GDC implement community activities under Fujitsu’s Global Delivery Responsible Business Program (known as GRiP) Community Pillar, which aims to empower, engage, and enable communities, even amidst the Covid pandemic.

The PEZA outstanding environmental performance award is givento a company in the Philippine EconomicZone Authority region that has demonstrated sustained environmental management and implemented environmental projects/outreach programs. Fujitsu’s GDC in the Philippines has been certified to ISO 14001 — Environment Management since 2015 and has since implemented comprehensive plans to minimize the environmental impact of its operations.

The PEZA Outstanding Community Projects Award recognizes social welfare programs that benefit the Filipino community. Outreach projects undertaken by Fujitsu’s GDC in the Philippines include educational activities.

The special citation COVID-19 response award is a new category awarded for commendable efforts in establishing and implementing policies and programs to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.

Drive for better beginnings

Toyota Motor Philippines is offering an array of offers and exclusive perks .

The Toyota Wigo is available for only P6,023 per month for the 1.0 E MT variant (via Pay Light option at 50 percent down payment, 60 months to pay).

Improving road safety

As strong advocates of road safety, Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) became one of the first car brands in the country to offer a suite of driver-assist safety features we now know as Honda SENSING.

Cybersecurity training

To help supply the country’s requirement of cybersecurity experts, Mapúa University  has partnered with EC-Council to deliver industry-leading cybersecurity training and certifications.

Now an authorized EC-Council Academia Partner, Mapúa will be offering high-quality, authorized EC-Council Cybersecurity-related academic courses to train Mapúa students for the ever-evolving global standards on cybersecurity.

Aside from preparing future and current IT professionals to become globally competitive, the move also aims to generate a troop of highly competent Filipino cybersecurity professionals who can help the country avert and recover from the influx of cyberattacks that have since escalated during the pandemic.

The university currently offers three EC-Council certificate courses: Certified Secure Computer User, Certified Network Defender, and Certified Ethical Hacker.

All courses are available online. EC-Council certificates will be given to students who successfully pass the corresponding examinations. These self-paced courses tackle essential topics that help cybersecurity experts battle cybercrimes.

Classrooms for Calapan’s central school

 Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI) helped address classroom shortage in Camilmil Central School (CCS), Calapan City’s central elementary school by turning over a two-storey, four-classroom building on Nov. 23, 2021.

Security Bank Foundation’s focus on education started in 2011. By the end of the year 2021, it would have built 701 classrooms in 123 schools in 69 cities and municipalities, a fitting celebration of Security Bank’s 70th anniversary.
