LAOAG CITY – Makati Mayor Abby Binay launched her Senate campaign Tuesday with promises to expand healthcare access, improve education, and eliminate taxes on workers’ overtime and 13th-month pay.
“When government gives priority to better health and education, our people become more productive. And by removing taxes on overtime pay and 13th-month pay, we help spur economic growth by increasing the purchasing power of our workers,” Binay said.
Her healthcare platform includes free medicine for chronic diseases, unlimited dialysis and chemotherapy, and improved rural health facilities. “Quality health care should be accessible for anyone who needs it. Healthcare must be 100% better,” she said.
On education, Binay advocates for modernizing facilities and providing students with digital learning tools. “Children are very eager to learn. They need to feel valued and supported by their government. They deserve better,” she said. “In a rapidly changing world, it is the role of government to guarantee that every child, regardless of economic status, has the opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute positively to society,” Binay added, highlighting plans to upgrade curricula and address classroom shortages in remote areas.
